Michael LeFebvre is a pastor in the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America, a denomination which believes passionately in singing the Psalms in worship.

He is also a scholar, serving as adjunct Professor of Old Testament at Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dr. LeFebvre has combined his interest in the Old Testament with his love for the Psalms to write a beautiful little book called Singing the Songs of Jesus.

He kindly read through an advanced copy of Christ’s Psalms, Our Psalms – Study Resource and endorsed it with these words:

Most commentaries explain a text within its original context. Some go the extra step to make further application for today’s context. But it is rare to find a commentary that bridges those two horizons through focused attention on the Person and Work of Christ. Christ’s Psalms, Our Psalms does just that. As the commentary’s title aptly expresses, Christ’s Psalms, Our Psalms shows us the Person of Christ in each psalm, and through our union and identification with Jesus, brings the Psalms to bear on the life of the Christian today. The result is a resource that will enrich the reading, preaching, and singing of the Psalms unlike most other commentaries.

Michael LeFebvre, Author of Singing the Songs of Jesus

The contributors to this volume have framed their project around this central insight: that the Old Testament saints first sang the Psalms as those trusting God’s covenant with David and anticipating the promised Son of David. The original context of the Psalms was an express focus upon Christ. With that conviction as their controlling premise, the authors unpack each psalm’s themes, poetic devices, theology, and other details in a simple format that is easy to use and enjoyable to read, all with the aim to unite present believers with the same faith in Christ as shared by their original singers. They sang the Psalms in anticipation of Christ, and we sing them best when we, too, see Jesus in every Psalm. Christ’s Psalms, Our Psalms will help the church to engage with the Psalms like no other commentary presently available.
