Editorials
In writing editorials for Clarion magazine, I try to choose issues which confront Christians in the western world, specifically here in Canada. Many times controversial matters stir up a lot of trouble behind the scenes but do not get talked about in public. Keeping struggles quiet does not help bring resolution and so I try to shine a light on the trouble spots and bring some direction from God’s Word.
I don’t have all the answers (by a long shot!) but my desire is to provoke discussion among believers, to get them to do the “Berean test” and think through the matter from a biblical point of view. We all need our pre-conceived ideas put through the filter of Scripture to see if they stand up. I hope these pieces may be a blessing for you. Feel free to share them with your friends and thanks for reading! Peter Holtvlüwer

It’s an unnerving thought, one we’d rather not confront: could our Christian daughters actually consider abortion? Would they actually go through with it? We can bury our heads in the sand or we can acknowledge the terrible realities some pregnant young ladies go through and find ways to help them. Click on the title to read more on this.
How do you respond to those who challenge the authority of the Bible? How do we know the Scriptures are reliable and true? How much of it is true? This editorial tackles these questions and more.
Ever been involved with a Christian school, had concerns about a teacher and made efforts to speak with the principal? Or as a church member who is disquieted by the way your pastor preaches, have you ever raised those concerns with the elders of the congregation? These are often delicate situations and Christians may wonder: does the Lord’s instruction in Matthew 18 play a role in how we address such issues? This editorial addresses misunderstandings on these matters.
Rebuke Me Already! Tolerate everything. No one can tell me what to do! These are the catch-phrases of our current culture but do we Christians follow suit? Do we give any room for rebuke? Do we know what rebuke is and why it can be so beneficial? What does God have to say about rebuking? Find out by reading Rebuke Me Already!
